Bringing back the Cool Kids from 2013!

It has been awhile since we have heard new material from the American band, Echosmith. After their hugely successful debut album Talking Dreams, they took a little step back from the limelight. The eldest of the band/family, Jamie Sierota, decided to leave the band at the end of 2016 to fully focus on fatherhood.

In May, Noah Sierota married his long-term girlfriend Caraline Dirks. Congrats to the happy couple!

Just this week, the remaining trio announced the release of their new album and accompanying tour, which will happen later this year. Their follow up album, Inside A Dream, will arrive on September 29. Be sure to mark your calendars!

The indie-pop group also released the first single off their forthcoming album, Goodbye. This track spots a more mature sound as compared to their past releases, in fact they mentioned in previous interviews that they took some time off to evolve their sound. This was the comeback that everyone wanted and definitely isn’t goodbye for them!

A teaser for what is to come!

Niall Horan hit the sunny shores of Singapore for a very intimate showcase with just 25 lucky fans, members of the media and invited guests. The surprise gig was only announced earlier this week and fans got the chance to win exclusive invites.

The showcase, of which the location was kept a secret till show day, happened at the Esplanade Annexe Studio. Niall started off the gig with his debut solo single This Town and then continued with an unreleased track (which he mentioned that the release date is still unknown) On The Loose. Just before closing off the show with his latest single Slow Hands, the Irish crooner treated us to a cover of Dancing In The Moonlight by Irish rock band Thin Lizzy.

The set was followed by a short Q&A session that was opened to both fans and the media. Niall told the crowd a little story from the making of his forthcoming album, where he created a song so emotional that it pretty much made a room full of grown men cry. He even promised to revisit this when his album is out later this year!

At the end, Niall also shared that he would love to return to Singapore to perform “a set with 12 more songs” and even take the time to explore the city. We’re excited for the release of his forthcoming solo debut album and hope to see you again!

Check out the highlights below!

Then & Now – X Factor USA Season 2

Remember them?

X Factor USA Season 2 brought us the likes of Fifth Harmony, their journey continued far beyond the talent competition. Even today, the girls of Fifth Harmony are still topping charts around the world and performing in front of huge crowds.

But, what have the other finalists on the 2012 season been up to?

Bea Miller

Bea has put out quite a bit of music ever since her time on X Factor USA. This year alone, she will be releasing 3 EPs and compiling all the tracks into her sophomore album at the end of the year. In her interview with Fuse TV, Bea explained how the songs were grouped based on what colour she felt when listening to them.

Emblem 3

The trio have been on and off throughout the years, Drew Chadwick left in the middle of 2014 but reunited with the Stromberg brothers at the end of 2015. Following that, they released a couple of tracks together and went on tour. Just last week, the youngest member, Keaton Stromberg, released his debut solo album The Simple Life. We’re not sure where the band is headed, but one thing for sure they will continue making music whether individually or as a group!

CeCe Frey

CeCe released her first song Dead 2 Me in 2014 but since then she hasn’t put out any other tunes. Thankfully, we can expect new music from her in August as she announced on social media just a few days ago.

Arin Ray

Arin released his first EP, Phases, last year and promised fans on Twitter that more material will be out soon. Besides working on his music, he has also started a family. How cute!

Carly Rose Sonenclar

After X Factor, Carly released a couple of songs here and there and even joined in on a few Boyce Avenue videos. Even though she had been hard at work on her music career, she had been attending school and has recently graduated. Congrats girl!

Remember this?

That was Singapore-born singer Natalie Ong WOW-ING the judges at her X Factor Australia audition. Even though her journey on the talent competition was cut short after the first live show that did not stop her from pursuing her dream. She recently released her first ever-single Get Gold and it made us feel like proud parents!

In this Instagram post, Natalie spoke about how the song came about. In collaboration with Josh Wei (who has worked alongside other local acts like Gentle Bones and Linying), they pitched the song to the National Youth Council and all together it was produced.

Get Gold depicts Natalie’s journey from her X Factor Australia days till today, she has fixated her mind on pursuing her dream and nothing will get in her way. Through the song, she also hopes to inspire fellow youths to chase their dreams no matter what.

Most EPIC Artist And Fan Collaborations

Behind every successful man artist is a woman fanbase.

Throughout the years, there have been some pretty epic artist and fan collaborations. We have got music videos featuring fans; single artworks designed by fans and the craziest of them all – fans pouring ice on their idols.

Here are the top 5 collaborations that have gone down in history.

All Time Low’s Missing You

What could be better than being featured in All Time Low’s music video for Missing You, this video gets close and personal with some of their most dedicated fans.

Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off

As Taylor said it herself, “It hurts how adorable it is!”. Just imagine being invited to a secret location for a secret event, and then learning that you will be featured in one of Taylor Swift’s music video. How amazing!

One Direction’s History

One Direction’s last single before the hiatus, this is a little bit of a bittersweet one. The track basically depicts the band’s journey throughout the years alongside directioners. The coolest part? Their producer actually got a group of fans into the studio to record the chorus.

Ed Sheeran’s Galway Girl

How cool would it be to have Ed Sheeran take over your town for a day to shoot his music video for Galway Girl? Ed went all the way to Galway, Ireland for the shoot and his fans lined the streets around the area to catch a glimpse of their idol.

Little Mix’s Power

There are many ways fans can express their love for the idols, one way being fan art. The girls of Little Mix decided to feature Taylor’s (@pezthirlou_ on Twitter) artwork as their single artwork for their latest single Power.

Bonus: Liam Payne’s Ice Bucket Challenge

As part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, One Direction’s Liam Payne got a couple of fans to help him out. Life goals right there, being able to pour ice over your favourite idol.

What a plot twist!

You might know Conor Maynard from his tunes like Can’t Say No, Vegas Girl and Are You Sure. He has got a brand new project out with his brother Jack Maynard, a lifestyle YouTuber who does challenges and vlogs. Together, they formed GOAT and put out their first song Grenade.

The video depicts the Maynard boys going out on a night out and being each other’s wingman. Then, things got a little crazy for Jack; he starts kissing a dog and dressing up as superman. Check it out here!

Before you go, this comment on the video caught our eye. Could it be true?

The Late Late Show With Harry Styles?

Can you see him hosting a late night talk show in the future?

One Direction’s Harry Styles has been doing promo for his debut self-titled solo album and stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden for a week.

Yes, a week! Throughout the week, he performed a couple of his tunes as well as participated in countless number of skits.

If you do not have the time to watch through them all, this is the right place. Here are the 3 best/funniest skits that you cannot miss!

Monologue – We reckon he can do stand up comedy in the future, maybe?

Flinch – Well done Harry! He definitely kept his cool.

What a journey it has been for her!

If you didn’t already know, the Fifth Harmony singer has been competing in the on-going season of Dancing With The Stars. She was partnered with two-time winner Valentin Chmerkovskiy aka Val. Before the finale next week, let’s look back at her journey!

The season started pretty rough for the duo as Normani had to juggle touring with Fifth Harmony and flying back to Los Angeles each week. But of course they still pulled off some amazing performances.

Topping the score board in week 2!

And again in week 3! Val tagged along with the girls of Fifth Harmony on their Asian leg and made it work, just look at how they practice.

The one that Harmonizers were waiting for! Just days after completing their shows in Asia, the girls put on a special performance alongside Normani’s routine. The trio sang Impossible, which happens to be the same song Fifth Harmony (or LYLAS at that time) performed at Judges Houses on The X Factor USA.

To date, Valmani have had 3 performances that scored the perfect 40/40! But, to be honest pretty much every single performance was breath taking.

Bonus: Last but not least, I’m sure all you Harmonizers out there loved the tightknit relationship the girls had. Here are some of their best social media posts to support their girl Normani!

We wish her all the best!

Remember this scene?

To celebrate 30 years of Dirty Dancing, ABC will be airing a 3-hour remake of the 1987 film at the end of May. Along with this special TV event, they have also announced a star-studded accompanying soundtrack.

According to this track list posted by Just Jared, we are definitely in for a treat. So far only 3 tracks have been released but let us break it down for you.

Be My Baby – Bea Miller

You might remember her from the 2012 edition of X Factor USA, Bea placed ninth place but that did not stop her. Since leaving the show, the American singer signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut album Not An Apology in 2015.

Hungry Eyes – Greyson Chance

Greyson got his big break after his performance of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi went viral back in 2010. The American singer even performed in Singapore a couple of times including 2016’s A Rooftop Affair.

Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright - Sarah Hyland & J. Quinton Johnson

Best known for her role in Modern Family, Sarah Hyland is starting to make a name for herself in music. A couple months ago, she showed off her vocals while duetting with Boyce Avenue for Closer and Don’t Wanna Know.

Till we catch the special remake of Dirty Dancing, tell us which track has been your favourite and which unreleased track are you most excited for!
