Why Concert Promoters Should Start A Pre-Show Playlist

By  February 11, 2018

Raise your hand if you’ve ever heard a good song in public only to leave the place not knowing the artist or even the title!

While a show in itself is an undeniable highlight of a concert, there are some of us who treasure pre-show moments where we’d try to make sense of the crowd we’re going to be spending the rest of the evening with.

It also happens that these moments involve sudden music discoveries that set the mood before the actual show, which leads me to the "epiphany" that concert promoters should start pre-show playlists!

Why would you need a playlist if you can just Shazam songs you like, you may ask?

Well, while it’s arguable that music discovery should remain unplanned, it is almost always a better experience to jam along with a song that I am familiar with. Plus, it's never a bad idea to get your adrenaline running as warm up before show.

I understand that my obsession with documentation and organization is one that is not shared by everyone, but isn’t just nice to have a collective set of songs you can easily refer to in the future?

If you’re ever wondering what triggered this "realization," LAMC Productions had a good set of songs prior to Foster The People's show just less than a couple of weeks ago.

Here are some songs I’ve discovered at the gig:
