8 Questions With Chris Bourne

By  February 13, 2017

Remember that cute little kid, Peter, with the flux capacitor, from Busted's Year 3000 music video?

Yeah, that one.

Well, his name is Chris Bourne - brother of Busted's James Bourne - and he is all grown up now and making music of his own. In 2011, he became a member of pop band Hollywood Ending, for a couple of years before stariting his own solo career. Since going fully independent in October last year, he has been single-handedly doing everything, including currently promoting his second UK headline tour as well as his upcoming EP, In Your Arms, on Busted's Night Driver tour.

I recently got the opportunity to ask him a few questions about himself and his music, which, by the way, you should definitely check out down below.

1. Could you give a brief introduction to yourself for all those who are new to your music?

Yo my name is Chris Bourne, I'm 24 years young and I write/perform music and Vlog! I'm an Independent artist with music available online everywhere #RetroVibes so check it out! :)

2. How would you describe your music in three words?

Feel good vibes

3. Was it easy transitioning from being in a band to a becoming a solo artist?

I used to write a lot of music for my band, but didn't really sing much. The last couple of years I've been working on my vocals and finding a sound that I think represents where I'm at. At this point in my career, I make music I enjoy listening to and hope that people listening understand it comes wholheartedly from yours truly :)

4. Do you write songs based on real life experiences or about made up situations?

As I develop as a Songwriter I think I write a mixture of both.. From myself I tend to write a little more personally I think, especially more so now that ever :) But I also love quirky concept songs which aren't necessarily derived from true experience but are definitely inspired by certain events :)

5. What was your favourite band growing up? Did you also get inspiration for your music from that band?

Naturally I grew up listening to a lot of music my brother James was playing from his bedroom; a lot of Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys, blink 182 :) to name a few. I picked up the guitar and just started jamming along to anything I enjoyed listening too ;) I think you can hear some inspiration from a combination of all music I grew up jamming to

6. If you could tour anywhere in the world, where would you want to go first?

In the last 5 years I've been lucky enough to tour and perform extensively throughout America, Canada, Europe, and Japan. I would really like to expand and tour all over the world :) Brazil is on my hit list for sure !!

7. And if you had the freedom to choose any three artists to tour with, who would they be?

I would love to tour with my brother again, my last band 'Hollywood Ending' opened for McBusted in arenas a couple years ago and it was amazing !!!!! Who knows what the future holds :) Other than that, I love touring with people I have written songs with/collaborated with. That's the whole philosophy behind the Identiy Tour, my second and largest UK headline tour to date. I booked the Tour and now I'm promoting the shows on the ENTIRE BUSTED NIGHT DRIVER TOUR :) I'm just inviting all my music friends to come out and perform :)

8. Lastly, what can we expect from your upcoming EP, In Your Arms?

This latest EP is something I'm extremely proud of, I've been lucky enough to work with Jarvis Anderson (front man of one of my fav bands growing up "Iglu & Hartly"). Also my friends, Steve Solomon and Jake Newton. Super grateful to be able to work with these mega talented people ! The EP included 4 brand new songs which I feel are some of the best material I have ever made :)
