Interview

Pete Wentz, Post-hardcore & Dancing With The Stars: Spin or Bin Music Talks To All Time Low

By  April 6, 2013

You always remember your first.

That much can be said when none other than All Time Low stepped into the very same room as yours truly and after a few sweaty wrong turns through the considerably misleading Hard Rock Hotel, it was pretty damn surreal for a first interview.

Here was the band that played a huge part in branching out my eclectic musical preferences and I’ll admit right here and now that a tear or two might’ve been shed over certain relatable lyrics. If Green Day was the band that got frontman Alex Gaskarth into the punk side of music, All Time Low is my Green Day and I daresay, the Blink-182 of their generation.

Sure it might technically be a press conference with uncomfortable aid from 987FM deejays, but Dammit, I was actually (attempting) to make conversation with one of my all-time favourite bands and we MADE EYE CONTACT. I KNOW. And judging from guitarist Jack Barakat’s entertainingly amusing facial expressions, someone’s gonna get pregnant from all the eye sex we had.

With topics ranging from their notorious Harlem Shake, Pete Wentz’s email address and Alex’s mum, the Baltimorean band was a pleasure to hang out with despite my bumbling stuttering to which they nodded encouragingly, ever my heroes. Staying true to their cheeky selves, the band even managed to slot in a few jokes about Rian Dawson’s beau, Cassadee Pope and generally being sheer rebels by not caring about a certain mum’s disapproval towards a rose tattoo. Wait, or was that a daffodil?
