Cassadee Pope Goes Country: Opening For Rascal Flatts & The Band Perry Tour

By  March 2, 2013

If you ask me, it really is a no brainer for our favourite winner of The Voice, Cassadee Pope.

She’s already used to penning her own songs, be it with Hey Monday or her pre-Voice self-titled effort and she also possesses the kind of electric stage presence that only a Warped Tour alumnus can be proud of. So does it really come as a surprise that the direction of her solo career is now rocketing off towards a more country twang? As if opening for Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry aren’t any indication; before you know it, Pope might just end up getting cosy with our friend Taylor Swift in the back of pickup truck somewhere…

Sure her choice of mentor in the shape of Blake Shelton might’ve given it away but at the end of the day, pop punk or country, they both tell stories and tend to produce actual music of the finest quality. And what better way to showcase this (potentially impressive but sill; upcoming) music than a full blown tour? Pope might not be on the Warped bill this summer but with her recent signing to Republic Nashville, what’s for sure is that all eyes both bandoms and hillbillies are peeled on this particular gem.

While anxiously awaiting new tunes from Ms. Pope, listen to an acoustic rendition of Secondhand (my absolute fave off her EP) below!
