Why It Will Be Difficult For Lady Gaga To Sustain Her Reign Over The Pop World

By  January 31, 2013

Lady Gaga. The first thing you associate with her name, is the word superstar. She's known for her #1 dance hits and wacky outfit choices. Recently, there hasn't been much of a stir about her- as she's been all over the world on a grueling yet incredible world tour since early 2012.

It's bizarre that Gaga prolonged the tour for so long, only setting the dates in early 2012 which was almost a year after her worldwide success third effort Born This Way topped the charts across the globe. It was definitely a mistake for the outlandish performer to leave it so long, as she is now on tour and doesn't have time to create and promote a new record simultaneously.

Everyone knows that the key to success, is to stay relevant. Although Gaga made some headlines while being on tour in Asia, over in the states- things have remained relatively quiet for her. The perfect thing for her to do right now would be to promote a new record. Unfortunately she's just begun a long trek around the USA rendering her unable to release a new album.

Even with her tour holding her back, her extreme over exposure is also something that will serve as a hindrance toward further commercial success. Gaga has been so overexposed for so long, what with her perfume, her constant headline grabbing ensembles, and occasional international incidents- that people are getting sick of her. It also doesn't help that a lot of her music is beginning to sound very alike, and lacks a certain energy that her first album The Fame had.

If ARTPOP is all it's been promised to be, we can expect a revolutionary album that will change the face of the music industry. Something that combines technology, music, and fashion all into one safe haven spearheaded by Mother Monster. If it works, it'll be fantastic, innovative, and captivating. If it doesn't...... Gaga will have to step down as the queen of pop music and hang her head in shame.
