Cassadee Pope has one thing in common with The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Martina McBridee, and fellow Voice alum Raelynn. They are all label mates under Republic Nashville. That's right, The Voice Season 3 winner has officially been signed to a country label. Does that mean she's going country too?
Well, yes and no. Cassadee insisted that she's "going to stick with pop/rock and maybe have some country elements in there. I know that I gained some amazing country fans and I know how hard it is to get into that world".
The 23-year-old singer has confirmed Blake Shelton's involvement in her upcoming solo album. "I mean he’s always down to give me advice. I even asked him if he’d sing on the album and he said he would. So that will be really amazing," she told TV Line.
It makes perfect sense that she would want to venture into that genre since her country performance of Over You was a major turning point on The Voice. I just hope she doesn't abandon pop-rock roots and alienate her older fans from Hey Monday.
Although Cassadee has yet to release a single, she hinted at what her music will sound like. "If you were to take Taylor Swift, make it edgier with a just a little hint of country and make the lyrics a little more mature, that would be the direction I'd like to take," she explained.
