English singer-songwriter, James Blunt, has just announced his retirement from the world of music. In an interview with The Daily Mail, Blunt said,"I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa."
Blunt is known for his break-out debut album Back To Bedlam in 2005, which featured the immensely successful hit single, You're Beautiful. Since then, he has won two Brit Awards and received five Grammy nominations for his works.
According to him, he has no further plans to continue songwriting even. Not everyone is upset about his retirement though. Throughout Twitter, you can easily spot people (just do a Twitter search using "James Blunt") who expressed their elation about Blunt's ending music career.
As for me personally, while I agree that You're Beautiful was one (and still is) of the most overplayed song of the past decade, I gotta admit that some of his songs were pretty great. Plus having James Blunt around made me appreciate the man-lier voices of other male singer-songwriters even more. Goodbye Blunt, it has been a good run (sort of). Have fun with your model girlfriend.
Here is You're Beautiful for the last time ever, hopefully:
