It has finally landed.
After weeks of teasing fans with Tweets about the shoot and behind the scenes photos from the set, Pierce The Veil has finally dropped the music video for King For A Day, the first single from Collide With The Sky.
The single, which features Kellin Quinn, the lead vocalist of fellow post-hardcore band Sleeping With Sirens, has already celebrated wild success when the band + Kellin played it during this year’s Warped Tour.
Fans everywhere have been anticipating the video, with the more ‘dedicated’ ones even thinking of possible plots that are relevant to the song. I’m pretty sure no one expected this storyline, considering a lot of us probably assumed the song was about one of those tragic love stories which wasn’t blessed with a happy ending.
Instead, we have Kellin and Vic working in a bank (never gonna happen), wearing sharp suits (even more unlikely) and getting all pissy and frustrated at their manager who has a last name contradictory to his physical size; ‘Smalls’. Frustrated, the boys began mapping out a false heist to share the bank’s fortune with the rest of the office. Robin Hood, modern UK version, perhaps?
The usual shooting scene ensued, although not as horribly choreographed as the one in Maroon 5’s Payphone (c’mon don’t tell me not even ONE bullet hit Adam and the girl as they were running out of the bank?), plus it had a tinge of quirkiness, giving the guys their usual image, instead of just completely serious vibes.
My verdict? Great attempt at using visuals to change the direction of the track a little bit. The gifs from the video have already made their way on Tumblr, so I’m pretty sure it’ll be at least a month until my dashboard clears off these “icons”.
