Jojo is famous for her tunes such as Baby It's You and Too Little Too Late, but that was back in 2004 (man, do I feel old!). Now she is showing the world that she is growing up and she is unafraid to prove to the world that she is not just the lovestruck teenager anymore.
With the release of her latest single Demonstrate, the 21-year-old singer plays a temptress in the bedroom over a song produced by Drake’s right hand man, Noah “40″ Shebib. Demonstrate sees Jojo showing her mature and sassy side as she sings about her sexual anxiety on the sensual, slow R&B track: "I know I can demonstrate / And I can let my body explain / I know I can demonstrate / So I'mma make it simple and plain / You just need to come over"
Speaking about the direction that her upcoming album is heading towards, Jojo said,"[...] something that is musical but still on the cutting edge yet still has an element of nostalgia. It makes me feel the way that hip-hop and R&B in the 90's kind of makes me feel."
Honestly, if Demonstrate is a representation of the sound that Jojo's new album is gonna be like, I am so stoked for it. I love how Jojo seem to seamlessly weave in and out of her falsetto range in the song. That, coupled with the very minimal instrumentation of the song (all thanks to Noah Shebib, whose famous work includes Drake's Marvin's Room - another song with minimal instrumentation), Demonstrate can easily be one of the underdogs of the Top 40 charts.
