Seal Talks About Heidi Klum Divorce on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Just a day after Seal and Heidi Klum officially joined the ranks of high profile splits, the singer took a moment to talk about the split on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Seal was on the show to promote his new album, Soul 2 and seemed to feel the need to address many of their fans shocked by the divorce.

“You can include us on that. We were shocked,” he tells Ellen DeGeneres. “You go into these things with the greatest intentions. When you say, ‘I do,’ you say till deaths do us part and those vows hold value. They’re not just words. But these things happen. We’ve pretty much said how we feel. I think we made it clear in the release statement.”

The Kiss From A Rose singer and the former Victoria’s Secret supermodel got hitched back in 2005 and have three biological children, as well as Klum’s 7-year-old daughter from her previous marriage. The reason for the divorce has been cited as having ‘irreconcilable differences’.

“You just grow apart after a while,” Seal explains. “I mean you try and you work through it, but the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and become a parent is that you do the best that you can. The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman that I married, and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart, is that together she’s given me four incredible gifts, four beautiful children. She’s still in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world.”

This seems to be a pretty bad period for Hollywood couples with Katy Perry and Russell Brand having announced their divorce not too long ago as well.

The only difference is that I’ve always felt that Seal and Klum were great together and were one of those rare celebrity couples with some actual substance. It’s a great shame, especially with all their children being so young. As tons of men around the world celebrate Klum’s newfound single status, I guess it’s safe to say that you can get pricked by roses too, right Seal?
